Applications
The application process for September is open until 17th June and places will be confirmed by 30th June. For children to start in September, they must be three on or before 31st August. There are 13 places available in our preschool.
You can apply for a place by completing this Microsoft Form:
Preschool Updates
We are pleased to have appointed our preschool teacher, Miss Muller. She will be supported in class by early years teaching assistants – one in the mornings and one in the afternoons.
The school building work is on track for us to open in September. We have recently visited and it is looking great. We are busy ordering furniture and resources to make this space really special for our three year olds.
The Preschool Day
The preschool day will align with the school day as closely as possible. We will open our doors at 8:50am for a 9am start. This means parents with older children in school can drop the older children off first and then head to preschool. The preschool day will end at 3pm with collection up until 3:10pm. Our primary school children will finish at 3:20pm.
Funding and places
We will offer full day placements for children following the term they turn three, subject to availability.
For children in receipt of the 15 hours universal funding, you may request half days or two full days and one half day, but sessions will be subject to availability. Parents can apply for extra hours if required. Please refer to the funding and charging document attached.
In the case of oversubscription, we will apply the following criteria:
-
Children with an Education Health, and Care Plan naming the setting.
- A looked after child or a child who was previously looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a child arrangements or special guardianship, order. A looked after child is a child who is in the care of a local authority or being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions, as defined in section 22(1) of the Children Act 1989.
- Siblings of pupils already in the school or who have been offered a place, and who will still be there at the time of admission.
- Children resident within the designated catchment area of the school. Children will be classed within this category if they are resident within the area served by the school at the time of application.
-
Children of staff employed by the Sandstone Trust at the time of admission.
- Distance to school outside of the catchment area. Pupils living nearest to the school measured in a straight line from the centrally plotted basic land and property unit point of the child’s home address to the centrally plotted basic land and property unit point of the school as defined by local land and property gazetteer.
Whilst we will try to accommodate requests for certain days, this may not always be possible due to our place limit per session. Please state on the application form which days you are requesting and whether there is any flexibility in this request.
Opening
Lunches and snacks
Children can bring in a packed lunch from home or order a school lunch for £2.80, payable in advance. The children will eat their lunch in the main hall with the primary school children.
Snacks can be provided from home or bought from school for 50p per day. If parents would like the school to provide snacks, you will be asked to pay for these before the start of each term.
Consumables
School will not provide nappies, wipes, suncream or other consumables. These must be provided from home. Our hope is that the children will be toilet trained before starting preschool, but if not, nappies and wipes will need to be provided.
Wrap-around Care
We will initially have 8 wrap-around places available for preschool children, adhering to the required 1:8 ratios. There is a section on the application form to indicate if this service is required. Again, this will be subject to availability and places will be allocated at the same time as the preschool places.
Charges for wrap-around care are as follows:
Mornings from 7:30am £7
Evenings until 6pm £12
